Wickford Elementary

The developer for Wickford Elementary is currently finalizing the traffic permit with RIDOT. The Rhode Island historic tax credit for this building (Wickford El) has been approved. The developer is also soliciting proposals to pull out the oil tank on the Cove side of the school.

Additional Hanging Baskets for Brown and Main Streets

HistWick has contracted with Iron Mountain Forge to manufacture 3 addtitional brackets for hanging baskets. They will go on the associated utility pole near The Press, The Kayak Center, and The Pearl. As you probably know, this is a wonderful collaborative effort of WVA (Wickford Village Association), the DPW (Dept of Public Works) and Historic Wickford. These beautiful iron hangers and gorgeous baskets of flowers add so much to the appearance of Brown, Phillips, Main and West Main Streets. The last 3 hangers/baskets will complete the project.

HistWick Communications Team

Lastly, HistWick is looking for some help in putting together a communications team. We have operated without such a team in the past but HistWick is now large enough to really justify a more focused and professional approach to collection and dissemination of Histwick related information. This team would ideally be composed of 3 or 4 members of Historic Wickford who have some writing skills, but perhaps more importantly, the desire and availability to dedicate just a few hours per month to the timely collection of Historic Wickford related information for dessimnation via social media, the new HistWick Website, local newspapers, and the monthly newsletter. If interested in joining the Histwick team, please contact me at this email.
