HistWick’s mission is to preserve, protect and celebrate the historic village of Wickford, its harbor and its surrounding environs. Our membership is open to anyone interested in helping to raise awareness of the importance of historic preservation and ensure the village and its stories can be enjoyed by generations to come.

Here are a few of the things we’ve supported and accomplished over the last few years (By support, we mean muscle or money and usually, in the Yankee tradition, it is a combination of both):

• Helped with the installation of “Wickford’s Trains, Steamer and Village Life” historic photograph in Wickford Junction Commuter Rail Station.
• The Wickford Walk historic marker walking tour
• Restoration of the Old Town Hall – we solicited support and shaped a vision for this treasure in close collaboration with the Town.
• Support for local historian Tim Cranston’s series of publications and walking tours.
• Tours of gardens & historic homes in the village.
• Wickford’s Living History Podcast Series.
• Support for the North Kingstown Food Pantry.
• Support for Home-Owner preservation awards.
• HistWick historic home wooden plaques to raise awareness of the historic district.
• Support for a robust Speaker Series of events with local and statewide historians
• Support for beatification projects, in cooperation with the Town – Visitor trash receptacles on Brown St and Main St.
• Support for the Plum Beach Garden Club.
• Support for the installation of the flagpole in Veteran’s Memorial Park.
• Support for the NK Legacy Tree Program.
• Support for the North Kingstown 350^th Anniversary Celebration.
• Support for Wickford Harbor Fire Events.
• Support for the Wickford Village Association.
• Support for Smith’s Castle events.
• Support for the purchase and display of the Ken McDonald Tree of Life in the Old Library Park.
• Support for a fencing upgrade to an 18^th Wickford cemetery.
• Support for the framing of original Wickford area prints donated to the Town of NK.
